Welcome to Carrie Weaves. This site serves as a platform to showcase and sell my handwoven textiles, and to document my journey within the craft. Beyond the shop, this site will also function as a blog, offering insights into my weaving process, inspirations, and technical explorations. In this blog, I want to share the stories woven into each piece. I want to delve deeper into the inspirations that drive my designs, the techniques I’m experimenting with, and the challenges and triumphs I encounter along the way. I want to share the beauty of the slow, intentional process of creating something with your own hands.
My approach to weaving prioritizes quality and personal satisfaction over mass production. There are times when my looms are humming with activity, when life is a little calmer and I have more space to create. Then, there are periods when life gets busy with family, freelance projects, and other ventures, and my weaving slows down. Weaving is my passion, my hobby, and I intend to keep it that way, a source of joy rather than a source of stress. This means that inventory availability will fluctuate based on my personal weaving schedule.
Some of what you'll see on this blog includes:
Process Documentation: Detailed accounts of specific weaving projects, including materials used, techniques employed, and challenges encountered.
Inspiration Sources: Discussions of the various factors that influence my designs, such as natural elements, artistic influences, and historical weaving traditions.
Technical Explorations: Reviews of weaving techniques, tools, and materials, with a focus on practical application and personal experience.
The focus here is on providing information about my weaving practices and the products available. I aim to create a resource that is both informative and accessible. There may be a few ramblings along the way.
Thank you for visiting. I hope you find this blog to be a source of joy!
Sincerely,
Carrie
